Sabian Sets A 25% Emissions Reduction Target!

We’re thrilled to share that the team at Sabian has set a target to reduce 25% of their GHG emissions from each cast production unit below 2021 levels by 2030!

After completing their greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory with Green Economy New Brunswick (GENB), Sabian learned that the majority of their emissions come from the propane and electricity used in their manufacturing buildings and processes. As a growing company, they felt that setting an intensity-based emissions reduction target that focused on lowering the carbon footprint from each unit of production was the way to go, while continuing to keep an eye on their overall total emissions through tracking and updating their GHG inventory each year.

“At Sabian, we conducted a thorough examination of our carbon inventory to identify areas where we could make a positive difference. After careful analysis, we set a 25% reduction target that we believe strikes a balance between practicality and ambition.” says Mike Connell, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Some of the actions Sabian is considering to help achieve their goal include performing an energy audit, improving insulation and upgrading equipment to more efficient production models. They are also looking at lighting retrofits and changing employee behaviours through training programs.

Green Economy New Brunswick has been proud to support Sabian in reaching their target-setting milestone. We look forward to continuing to work together over the coming years to help them achieve their climate goals.
